Surgical Implant Placement

A surgical implant is used when a tooth is missing or has been extracted. It could also be used on a larger scale if you are not wanting conventional removable dentures or bridges.

  1. Pre-surgery - a CT Scan is taken of the area to check the condition of the bone in the location where the implant is going to be placed. We also go over the entire procedure with you and discuss the location of the implant. If the bone is inadequate to support an implant, a bone graft can be done if necessary.
  2. Surgery - We will make a small incision in the gums to gain access to the bone. Then we remove some of the bone and place the implant.
  3. Post-surgery - You will be prescribed an antibiotic to ensure proper healing and a pain medication for soreness. There is also a follow-up visit to make sure everything is seated and healing correctly.

This is a relatively simple outpatient surgery, and you will be ecstatic about your new smile.
